Had another dentist appointment today (another round of IPR - completely painless, nothing to report there...).
My dentist said he was very impressed with how well my teeth are moving and he was even more impressed with how clean my trays are! (all I do is soak them every morning in white vinegar/water and brush with toothpaste after each meal).
I asked him about his thoughts on drinking white wine with the trays in and he was very clear about how bad that is because all that sugar is sitting in your trays, trapped to your teeth.... not good! I asked about what if it was on the odd occasion? He said that if it was on the very very very odd occasion then it should be ok but he said that it would be best to only leave the bottom tray in as the wine can wash over it as opposed to the top one getting the wine trapped inside.... so now I feel like I don't want to cheat again and drink with them in (and I do notice that when I have cheated and drank with them in that my trays do get more dirtier despite the constant brushing!) I don't know what to do? Maybe just better to take them out a bit longer to enjoy my wine (I don't see the point in only taking out the top one).
Anyway, I have noticed with my last 3 top trays (trays 6, 7 & 8) there has been a very tiny crack at the top of one of the front teeth (same spot each time), I asked the dentist about this and he said to just try and remove my tray from the other side or alternate to see if that makes a difference.
A few weeks ago I went on a holiday (4.5 hours drive away) to my in-laws and on the way up I brushed my teeth at the visitors centre's parent/child toilet and must have picked up a bug because I ended up with the runs!!!! So on the drive back home from our holiday I decided to brush my teeth in the car instead! I let my trays soak in an airtight container with water and flossed/brushed my teeth then rinsed my mouth out with my drink bottle of water - PERFECT SOLUTION! No bugs picked up from the car! Its made me be a bit more aware about brushing my teeth in public toilets!
I have changed over to tray # 9 tonight (nice & tight!) and will watch if the crack appears again.
I can't believe how fast the time is going. I am finding the whole process pretty amazing and would highly recommend this to anyone considering straightening their teeth. I am so glad I didn't go for the traditional braces. The only drawback for me is the limited time to eat & drink but I am relaxing more now and not being tooooooooo rigid as I was in the early days! LOL!
I'll probably take another pic of my teeth @ tray # 10.
