Had my Hygienist appointment today. Went well, nothing much to report.....
Took about an hour of scaling & polishing.... I got 2 x free toothpastes and got a discount for being an invisalign patient! So instead of it costing $190, it only cost me $130! YAY! (good with Xmas coming up!). I need to go again in 6 months time, they highly recommend a professional clean every 6 months while undergoing orthodontic treatment.
So, apart from that everything is going well.... I am on tray # 11 and not a lot to report..... hopefully my next post might be a bit more exciting! :)
Welcome to my own personal journey with Invisalign! I'm in my 30's and finally straightening my teeth. Happy reading :)

Annual check up with regular dentist
Had my annual check-up with the regular dentist after work today (not my orthodontist)......
He said I have EXCELLENT oral hygiene and can see that I really take care of my teeth..... BUT unfortunately 2 of my back bottom molars need a couple of little fillings. He said it is just caused by wear & tear and with there being a lot of grooves in those teeth that these things are bound to happen despite excellent oral hygiene!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!! He said it is definitely NOT from wearing my invisalign trays at all and it was actually spotted from my PRE-invisalign photos (the dentist that took the photos pre-invisalign put a note on it for my check-up to say that those particular 2 teeth needed to be watched). So, the good news is that it wasn't invisalign that caused the holes but the bad news is that I'm gonna be about $400 out of pocket!!!
Sooooooooo much money is going on my teeth!!! I have an appointment with the hygienist in a couple of weeks for a professional clean & that alone is $190!!!
P.S - I had my trays out for 3 hours in a row last saturday night, the longest I have ever had them out in one sitting! Oops!!!!! but I seriously don't think it will affect my treatment or anything! Will see when I have my next appointment with my orthodondist!

What about my Sons' teeth!!??
Here I am obsessed with my own teeth that I am afraid to say that I have neglected my 5 year old sons teeth!!!!!
He is only 5 years old and today he had to get a tooth pulled out! Yes, it was badly decayed and abscessed!!! Not only that, he needs to go back to the dentist to get 2 fillings done!!!!!???!
How can a 5 year old have cavities!!!??? I put it down to too many lollies and being a bit too relaxed with his teeth brushing! I think I wasn't very worried because majority of his teeth are still baby teeth! Yet here I am religiously brushing/flossing/mouth washing after each meal and totally obsessed with my own teeth yet my poor baby's teeth have been seriously neglected!!!!! I feel like such a bad mother!!!!!!

Up to Tray # 9 already!
Had another dentist appointment today (another round of IPR - completely painless, nothing to report there...).
My dentist said he was very impressed with how well my teeth are moving and he was even more impressed with how clean my trays are! (all I do is soak them every morning in white vinegar/water and brush with toothpaste after each meal).
I asked him about his thoughts on drinking white wine with the trays in and he was very clear about how bad that is because all that sugar is sitting in your trays, trapped to your teeth.... not good! I asked about what if it was on the odd occasion? He said that if it was on the very very very odd occasion then it should be ok but he said that it would be best to only leave the bottom tray in as the wine can wash over it as opposed to the top one getting the wine trapped inside.... so now I feel like I don't want to cheat again and drink with them in (and I do notice that when I have cheated and drank with them in that my trays do get more dirtier despite the constant brushing!) I don't know what to do? Maybe just better to take them out a bit longer to enjoy my wine (I don't see the point in only taking out the top one).
Anyway, I have noticed with my last 3 top trays (trays 6, 7 & 8) there has been a very tiny crack at the top of one of the front teeth (same spot each time), I asked the dentist about this and he said to just try and remove my tray from the other side or alternate to see if that makes a difference.
A few weeks ago I went on a holiday (4.5 hours drive away) to my in-laws and on the way up I brushed my teeth at the visitors centre's parent/child toilet and must have picked up a bug because I ended up with the runs!!!! So on the drive back home from our holiday I decided to brush my teeth in the car instead! I let my trays soak in an airtight container with water and flossed/brushed my teeth then rinsed my mouth out with my drink bottle of water - PERFECT SOLUTION! No bugs picked up from the car! Its made me be a bit more aware about brushing my teeth in public toilets!
I have changed over to tray # 9 tonight (nice & tight!) and will watch if the crack appears again.
I can't believe how fast the time is going. I am finding the whole process pretty amazing and would highly recommend this to anyone considering straightening their teeth. I am so glad I didn't go for the traditional braces. The only drawback for me is the limited time to eat & drink but I am relaxing more now and not being tooooooooo rigid as I was in the early days! LOL!
I'll probably take another pic of my teeth @ tray # 10.

Tray # 7 - Comparing pic with tray # 1
Finally decided to take a pic of my teeth to see if there has been any noticable changes..... WOW!!!! The above pic is wearing my 1st set of trays and the bottom is with my current trays (#7) and wow, the difference is very noticable! This makes me soooooo excited! Its only been 3 months into treatment! I am so excited how there is such a huge difference between my 2 front teeth!!! YAY!!!!

Wine & Invisalign!
Hello....
Today at lunch out with the girls, I accidentally forgot to take out my trays while drinking my glass of wine!!! Oops!!!!!
Once I remembered, I took them out, gave them a good rinse, stored them in their container and continued my wine with my lunch.
I figure that it should be ok to have a white wine with my trays in as long as I will be taking them out soon anyway to eat!
The risk while drinking (anything other than water) while wearing your trays is an increased chance of cavities because the drink will be trapped in your trays and you don't have your saliva to naturally wash the drink/sugar etc away.
My question is: How could cavities occur in such a short time frame if you will be taking them out very soon anyway to eat then brush? So I think from now on I will allow myself a leisurely wine to drink with my trays in!!!
2 hours per day without wearing your trays is only just long enough to gobble down your breakfast, lunch & dinner but if you enjoy drinking socially (& taking your time and not sculling it all back!) it is just NOT long enough!!!
So, cheers to wine & invisalign!

Tray # 6 - First lot of IPR & 2 extra buttons!
Yesterday I had my dentist appointment to get my first lot of IPR (shaving between teeth to make room for them to move better) & 2 extra buttons (attachments) attached. I had been quite nervous leading up to this appointment but there was absolutely nothing to be nervous about! The IPR process was painless!!!! My dentist did it in between 2 separate teeth, my 2 front lower teeth and in between one of my bottom front side teeth. After that process was over I had to remind him that I am supposed to get 2 extra buttons attached cos he had totally forgot!!!!! (just as well one of us remembered!), so he put the extra buttons on my bottom teeth and I now have a total of 16!!!!
He also said that he was very pleased with how my teeth are moving and that everything is tracking along nicely! YAY! He said he could notice quite a difference and so did My Mum (who lives in Dunedin - a plane ride away) who saw me for the first time with braces! YAY! I will have to put a pic up and really compare! I also had a good look at the difference between tray # 1 and tray # 6 and there is a definate difference! Not only my 2 front teeth improving but my overbite is alot smaller!!!!!!! WOW!!!! amazing!!!!! I'm excited now!
This morning I took my trays out before breakfast and my top tray was impossible to get out on one side!!!?? Super tight!!! That hasn't happened in AGES! However my bottom tray was no problem getting out and I thought I would have trouble with the new buttons so thats a relief!
My dentist also noticed a slight discoloration on one of my bottom teeth but he thinks it could just be since that tooth was hiding behind and has now moved that the colour is different?? he says it shouldn't be a cavity in such a short time period!??? I need to book in to see the standard dentist to confirm & get a professional clean (it pays to get your teeth professionally cleaned throughout treatment). Anyway my dentist also said that I am a dream patient..... doing everything by the book so hopefully my teeth will be where they should be in exactly 1 years time!!!! Fingers crossed!

Tray # 4
Hello,
I have been wearing my set # 4 for a week now and it has been exactly the same as # 3, not feeling very tight, not difficult to take off etc..... I don't know whether I am just so used to them now or trays really do vary depending on which teeth are moving?
I am pleased to report I no longer use a rubber glove to take them off anymore and can whip them out pretty quickly with no issues. I am so used to them now that I forget I am wearing them. Its been 7 weeks now since I started treatment and the time has just flown by!
One thing to note during my previous set (tray # 3) is that 3 times I cut myself with them..... back inner cheek, inner lip and tongue!!!! Each of those times it was while inserting them back in, its quite easy for these trays to nip parts of your mouth, so I am a bit more careful putting them back in now :)
Still not really noticing any changes (except slight movement with my 2 front teeth which I noticed from tray # 3), so am really hoping to see some more noticable movement soon. I still keep comparing my 1st set with future trays (still sealed in their little plastic bags) and am always amazed at how my teeth will look at the end of treatment so that keeps me motivated.

Tray # 3
Hello,
Changed to tray # 3 tonight, I was expecting tightness & pressure but only the top tray was tight and the pressure/tight feeling didn't last long at all? I don't know whether I am just used to it now or what if it isn't working!!???
Had a dentist appointment today and he asked me lots of questions about how I am finding them so far. He had a good look at my teeth with my trays in and then took them out and had a good look at just my teeth and said everything looks good. He then polished in between a couple of my bottom teeth and I asked him if that was the IPR and he said no, its similar but much milder. He said it was to help make a little extra room, it didn't hurt but I was a bit scared incase he polishes my gums? (I don't even know why it is called 'polishing' cos its not polishing at all!). I'm not looking forward to my official first lot of IPR at my next appointment (tray # 6 which is in 6 weeks time).
Nothing much more to report....... except I am not feeling so self conscious anymore brushing my teeth in public toilets! yay! I am no longer using the wheelchair access toilet at work anymore! Thats a BIG improvement for me!!!
I am also finding that I am PIGGING out at every meal as if it is my last meal EVER!!?? I really have to control that somehow because I feel sooooooo full that I feel I can't move!!?? Apart from that, everything is going smoothly!

Quick update while still on tray # 2
So, its day # 10 on tray # 2 and everything is going good. I am so used to the trays now that on a couple of occasions I have almost forgotten to take them out to eat!.... (almost)!
I am averaging wearing them a good 21 hours & 45 minutes, I can't seem to do exactly 22 hours cos otherwise it is just too rush rush! I average 30 minutes for breakfast, 45 minutes for lunch and an hour for dinner and that includes flossing/brushing my teeth & braces. I think thats pretty good but there have been several social occasions so far where I have had them out for an extra hour to be able to have a few wines and yummy finger foods! So that still means I am wearing them close to 21 hours a day and I think the minimum per day is like 20???
Anyway, I am finding these 2nd trays are staying much more cleaner than the 1st set and I am pretty sure it is cos I am not using my whitening toothpaste on them anymore (which scratches them) and am soaking them in white vinegar/water every morning.
Also just wanted to mention that I am regularly on facebook's invisalign page and find it really helpful and supportive with other people going through the same thing.

Tray # 2!!!
Hello....
Thought I better give an update on how everything is going....
I changed to my 2nd trays thursday night (2 days ago) and was excited but also a bit nervous, scared I might have difficulty putting them in and scared they might be more sore than the 1st set? Anyway, so after dinner (and after my usual floss/brush/rinse routine) I opened up the sealed bag and gave them a quick rinse and started with the bottom tray. I clicked it down on the front bottom teeth but the sides wouldn't fit properly?! I started to panic!!!! So I took it out and compared it to my 1st tray and it looked pretty much identical so it had to fit! So I tried again and this time wiggled the sides around a bit and then the next thing you know both sides clicked perfectly in place! FEW!!!!! Did the same with the top tray. They felt very tight but I like that feeling of tightness, it makes me feel like it is working! No need for painkillers, it is just a nice tight snug feeling! (maybe it also makes a difference that I use sensodyne toothpaste!?).
Then next morning I was nervous about taking them out to eat breakfast (remembering the 1st time the dentist took out my 1st set! OUCH!). It was difficult to get out because of the tightness so I had to go back to using my special tool/hook thing to help get them over my attachments. Yes it was sore getting them off but no-where near as sore as when the dentist took them out 2 weeks earlier! My teeth were a bit tender eating (especially my 2 front teeth) but its managable.
This morning I've had no problems and I didn't need my tool/hook to get them off so I'm hoping that with each new tray I will only need to use the hook on the 1st day of eating! I'm still using a glove and I think I will continue using it as it is easier to grip them to get them off and doesn't hurt my fingers/finger nails.
I ran out of the hydrogen peroxide to soak my trays in and instead have been using white vinegar (recommended by my Dentist) and it works just the same, comes in a big bottle and is nice and cheap! I soak them in 50/50 vinegar & water while I eat my breakfast and then after doing my brushing teeth routine I rinse the trays under a tap of cold running water and then give them a brush with a soft toothbrush. My last set of trays I was using my whitening toothpaste to brush them with but noticed they started looking very scratchy and I read on the internet that using whitening toothpaste on the trays is too harsh and will scratch them so now when I do use toothpaste I use a normal toothpaste on them.

First day back at work - Day 11 in 1st aligners
I have been off work for the last week & a bit for school holidays so today was my first day back at work with my invisalign!
Everyone was pretty much amazed at how UN-noticable they are!!! YAY!!!!!
My only issue was lunch time - finding somewhere to secretly take them out! I went upstairs to the toilets but it was so busy in there that I didn't feel comfortable trying to get them out there with people watching me so I went back downstairs and managed to get them off pretty easily in my own little work area. It was the first time I have ever taken them off without a mirror! Impressive! (Although I am still using a latex rubber glove as it is easier and I don't get sore fingers).
After lunch I decided to walk to other toilets (a bit further away) and brush/floss my teeth in the disabled/wheelchair access toilets (private with own sink & mirror!), so this might be my new place to brush my teeth at work privately! However, I was a bit paranoid that I might get in trouble using those toilets since I don't have a wheelchair!
I'm looking forward to changing my aligners on Thursday (3 more days) because the ones I have now are a bit scratchy looking so it will be nice to have some fresh ones on!

Day 5 in 1st aligners
Last night I was getting frustrated again because I had trouble getting them out to eat dinner. I think the problem was that I was stressing out because I had just finished cooking dinner and wanted to get them out before dinner got cold so rushing things just made things more difficult and stressful. Plus for some reason it felt sore again! :(
However today has been good and no problems getting them out and no soreness.
I went to a friends place for lunch today (who doesn't know anything about my braces or even that I HAVE them) and I was talking with her for about a good 1/2 an hour and we were just about to eat and I said "Oooh... I just have to go to the bathroom and take out my braces" and she was confused so I did a big cheesy smile and showed her them & pointed out my attachments and she was amazed! She didn't have a clue! She said she hadn't noticed them at all! That made me feel GREAT! So, this was the first time I have taken them out somewhere else (& brushed/flossed my teeth) other than home (apart from the dentist's) and no problems! Just time-consuming!
After lunch I was driving home and all of a sudden I could taste blood in my mouth, I looked in the rear vision mirror and my whole top aligner was filled with blood!!!!! Arrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!! It looked disgusting! and I couldn't do anything about it until I got home! Looked like I was a vampire and had just had a really good feed!!! LOL
Got home, took off my top aligner easily and gave it a good wash/rinse.... it seems as though the blood was coming from the hole from where my left tooth was extracted. Hasn't bleed since so not sure what that was all about!!???
My aligners feel a little looser today (probably explains why no longer sore when taking them out) and this morning when I took them out they STUNK!!!??? I gave them a good soak in hydrogen peroxide and a real good brush with toothpaste but it took longer and more effort to get them looking as new again..... I still have 9 more days before changing to my next set of aligners so I hope they won't end up too yucky!

3 days in and starting to feel good about it all!
Yesterday I was having a nightmare of a time trying to get the aligners out to eat!!!!
It hurt like hell and I was getting so frustrated that I burst into tears and felt like I can't do this for the next 14 months!!!????
However, today is a different day and a whole different story! The trick to getting out my aligners is with latex rubber gloves and gripping the inside of the aligners on my back molars and then slowley peeling off over the attachments using the tool the dentist gave me to help get over the attachments (remember I have 14 attachments so its quite a big deal to try get them out)! Also it wasn't sore at all today getting them off! FEW! So it is true that it does get better and that the first couple of days in each new set of aligners is the worst.
Its also quite a mission rushing to eat (and also eating as much as I can since its too much of an ordeal to snack) then floss, brush my teeth then get the aligners back in after each meal! I am used to only brushing my teeth twice a day and flossing once so this is adding more work! I am rinsing the aligners in the morning in a bowel with hydrogen peroxide & water to keep them nice and fresh, hope they keep nice until its time for my next set!
I had a look at my future aligners this morning (the dentist gave me my whole set of 30 aligners all at once) and I had a good look at my last one (#30) and wow! perfectly straight aligners both top & bottom! amazing!!!!! I had to peer through the plastic bags they were in as they are sealed until its time to open. Even aligner # 6 shows a huge improvement! (BTW, aligner # 6 I have to get 2 more attachments on my bottom teeth!!! Yippeee! not!).
I am also getting more used to the look of them now too and not so self conscious in them anymore! YAY (but still hoping the next 14 months fly by)!

The next day with my 1st aligner! (pic attached).
Well, I slept well last night with my 1st aligner, no problems at all which is great.
As per my previous post, the Dentist didn't want me taking them out until I saw him again this afternoon so I was STARVING by this morning. I had an Up-N-Go drink through a straw as I didn't want to make a mess of my aligners.
I had a big look in the mirror this morning and started feeling really really blaaaaaaggghhhh.....
the attachments look HUGE and really noticable. I am sure I will get used to them but I just didn't expect them to be so big & funny shaped? From far away you can't notice anything but anyone a reasonable distance from me can see its pretty obvious! I am sure people will soon be asking "Whats that on your teeth?"?
I went to the mall and tried to keep my mouth closed the whole time but I'm finding it hard to close my lips together cos of the trays so now when I try to close my mouth, it feels forced. I am sure as my teeth start to move back then I won't have this problem, but for now I feel like I don't want to smile for the next 14 months!!!! LOL
Visited the dentist at 1:40pm and straight away he pulled the aligners out..... OOOOOUUUCCCCHHHH!!!! Talk about sore!!!! Felt like my teeth were being ripped out!
Then he cleaned them and got me to put them in, no problems & no pain but then he got ME to try and get them OUT and wow! talk about mission impossible!!!!???
I used a hook to try lift up one of the sides from the upper aligner and it took like forever! I was so scared that I might damage the aligner or poke a hole through it! He said I have to just be forceful and DO IT!!!! So we had several attempts of putting them in and taking them out until I felt I knew what I was doing and then on one attempt taking out the bottom aligner it flung up in the air & hit him smack in the face, saliva and all!!!!! Lucky he has a sense of humour and thought it was hilarious! I then left them out so that I could go get some much needed lunch from the next-door bakery!
All my appointments over the coming 14 months are all now booked in the system, there are a couple of appointments where I have to get IPR (shaving between teeth) to help make more room for the teeth to move. Damn, I was hoping I wouldn't need that since I had 2 top teeth removed? Maybe its for my bottom teeth?
After the dentist, I was sooooo starving, I ate a sausage roll, vege samosa and a custard slice! Then I couldn't wait to get home to fully floss & brush my teeth and put the aligners back in again!
I have attached a close-up pic of me wearing them so you can see what it looks like (also with my attachments). As you can see the aligners are hardly noticable but its the attachments that stick out!

Finally braced!!!!
I had a feeling today would be the day!
The receptionist phoned me this morning at work to tell me that my invisalign trays have arrived and if I can go in today @ 4.20pm to get them fitted. YAY, FINALLY!!!!!!!!
I was really nervous leading up to it, almost as nervous as getting my teeth extracted!
Anyway, first thing the dentist did was give me a goodie bag (toothbrush, mouthwash, floss, toothpaste etc) along with 2 invisalign holders, aligner chewies, a special tool to help get the aligners out, invisalign info pamphlet & my dentists own 10 commandments of what to do/not to do etc!
Then I had to go through the whole time-consuming process of getting my attachments glued on to my teeth. I have 14 attachments in total, thats HEAPS! It was quite a job!!!
When that was done he gave me a mirror so that I could have a look..... aarrrggghhhh! I was quite shocked seeing my attachments because they look ENORMOUS!!!! I am sure I will get used to them. Lucky there are none on my 2 front teeth! They will stay on for my entire treatment.
Next was time for inserting my 1st aligners. Brett (Dentist) said that since it has been a while since I had my moulds done, the aligners are going to be extra tight because my teeth have slightly moved since. He wanted me to practise getting them out but it looked to be quite difficult so he suggested I leave them in and come back tomorrow afternoon to take them out so that by tomorrow my teeth will have adjusted etc.....
I'm gonna be very hungry by tomorrow thats for sure! He said I can eat very carefully in them if I'm starving (just this once) and that he will thoroughly wash them tomorrow but I don't want to do that so I might just drink a smoothie tomorrow morning. Hopefully there won't be that much of a mess to clean!
It has been about 2 hours since I left the dentist's office and so far no pain! Very tight feeling/pressure but nothing I can't handle. He said the 1st aligner would be the worst so hopefully this is it??? I'll let you know if I suddenley get any pain later on. I have taken 2 nurofen tablets just incase.
My husband says my aligners are hardly noticable. I think they look pretty good compared to a mouth full of metal. Its just the attachments that look quite obvious! I'm sure I will get used to them but it just means that these 'invisible braces' are not completely invisible. If I didn't have any attachments then no-one would be able to notice at all! Oh well, its all part of the process I guess.
I can't be bothered taking any pics tonight so hopefully I will tomorrow so you can see what my teeth look like with them in.

Teeth extracted!
Today @ 2pm I had my teeth extracted! and its also my birthday today so Happy Birthday to me!!! LOL (very expensive birthday present, $400!).
I had been freaking out about this BIG TIME!!! Scared about the whole procedure, scared they might remove the wrong teeth, scared they might damage my other teeth and just scared of the pain!!!!
My Hubby came with me for support and there were lots of jokes from the dentist about getting my teeth pulled out on my birthday.....
He looked at my xrays and said that my teeth have very long roots which means that it might be difficult to remove my teeth (ARRRRRRGGGHHHH!) and that invisalign might take longer than planned because of the long roots, but he did say that i have very healthy strong teeth!
Anyway, so they numbed me up with several injections and I felt alot of pressure but no pain and the next thing you know the first tooth came out easily! He then said that although I have long roots I have nice flexible bones which means there should be no problems with moving my teeth during the whole invisalign process (FEW!!!!).
The next one was pulled out not long after the first and then I had to have gauze swabs in my gaps to try stop all the bleeding (gross!!!) for about half an hour.
I was too scared to look in the mirror and still haven't checked my teeth out yet. It is now 5pm, still no pain, numbness is wearing off but I'm ok! I survived it!
So glad that part is over and done with.... now I am soooo ready for the aligners now!

Invisalign delayed..... (but professional pics attached!)
Just got an email from my dentist saying that the aligners won't be shipped until 2nd July!!!!??? Thats ages.... and by the time they arrive in NZ its probably going to be mid July.... oh man... I have been waiting sooooo long and now its just more delays! Grrrrrrrrr!
Anyway, he also sent me all the close-up photos of my teeth.... I was going to put them all up on my blog but they certainly are not pretty!!!! So I will think about it and decide later.....
Honestly, close-up..... my teeth look terrible!!!! It's quite embarrassing!
BRING ON THE INVISALIGN I SAY!!!!!!!

Clincheck approved!
Dentist phoned me last night to tell me he has finalised the clincheck (plan 2) and that he will send it to my home email address for me to look at and if I'm happy call him back and go ahead with making the aligners! Well........I'm VERY happy with the clincheck! I'm still gonna be left with gaps at the back but we did discuss bridges/crowns if needed.
Also, I only need 30 aligners! Thats just 13 months of treatment time!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!
So, it takes 2 weeks for the aligners to be made which falls around my birthday w/end, so I'm hoping to get them fitted AFTER my b/day (28th June), so I can make the most of snacking, leisurely drinking etc!!!!
So, at the moment I am very happy and pleased that the plan has finally been approved!

Still waiting......
Its been 7 weeks since I had my moulds done and I am still waiting on my invisalign plan to be finalised. I have seen the dentist twice.... the first time he gave me 2 plans.
1st plan involved a lot of shaving down the teeth (IPR) to make room for my teeth to move, rubber bands, lots of attachments but the end result not perfecting my bite.
2nd plan involved no shaving of the teeth, no rubber bands, a few less attachments, the end result being perfect but longer treatment time & 2 teeth extractions (upper).
He said that he still wanted to work on the plans to perfect them, so 2 weeks later (yesterday) I went in again and he showed me his new plan that he has been working on which is similar to the 2nd plan but instead of the 4th teeth on each side being removed it will be the 5th teeth on each side and a shorter timeframe. BUT the only downside is that he said the gaps where the missing teeth will be will not be able to fully close which means I will have a perfect bite and straight teeth but gaps near the back of my teeth (he said about half a tooth size on each side). He said its up to me what I want to do then.... either expensive crowns or bridges or leave as is if it isn't noticable.
So now he is working on tweeking this plan and will send it in to the invisalign company for approval. So now its more waiting...... I guess that is the downside to invisalign over standard braces, a long waiting time from getting the moulds done to actually getting the aligners.

moulds done!
15/04/10
Today I had my moulds done for Invisalign (my mouth tasted of yucky plaster for the rest of the day!)
It only took one go for the top arch but 3 goes for the bottom arch..... Its not a nice feeling having all this putty in your mouth and not being able to move your jaw or swallow for 3 minutes, so the bottom ones I had 9 minutes of it to endure! Lucky me! (not). At least no pain was involved!
The dental assistant has braces and I asked her why she has chosen speed braces over invisalign and she said since she has to deal with kids in braces all the time she wanted to experience braces herself so that she can relate to them more & empathise with them etc and she has no issues with having a mouth full of metal since she works in the dental industry (she is lucky in that she only has to wear her braces for 1 year). She also said that she has seen excellent results with invisalign and that it works faster than braces, so here is hoping!!!
So after I got my moulds done I then had to pay the deposit ($3K - ouch!!!) & set up the AP ($212 per month over 2 years). No going back now! I said that to the Receptionist and she said that I definately won't regret it! Again..... Here is hoping!
So, now I just have to wait a few weeks for my next appointment & clin-check (to see how my teeth will look visually if treatment goes to plan) and then if I am happy with the plan then the aligners will be made up & then treatment will finally begin!
It all seems so overwhelming.... I keep thinking about the hassle of having to take them out in public if eating/drinking out etc.... I keep wondering how I will cope with not snacking all day (cos of the hassle of having to brush/floss after every meal)..... I keep chickening out wondering if I should just leave my teeth alone...... wondering if it is going to be worth all the money and hassle? But I keep reminding myself that my bottom teeth will get worse over time and that if I don't do anything about it now then I WILL regret it and my teeth WILL get harder to clean as they keep moving out of line, and of course, I DO want an attractive smile and have my ugly gap between my two front teeth closed once and for all!
P.S - I will put pics up maybe in my next blog once my treatment plan is made up. Hopefully I will be able to get the professional pics I had done at the dentist!

Going to be getting Invisalign!
Sunday 11th April 2010
Haven't updated in ages!!
Well, since my last blog I have had my moulds, photo's & x-rays done and had another consultation with my orthondontist with possible treatment plans.
He gave me the choice of Speed braces or Invisalign. I had no idea I would be a good candidate for Invisalign and the cost is only an extra $950! So Invisalign it is!
For those of you who don't know what Invisalign is, they are clear plastic retainers that you change every 2 weeks. Pro's - they are invisible, you take them out to eat & drink therefore meaning there are no restrictions on what you can eat, you can brush/floss your teeth as usual, shorter treatment time than traditional braces and much more comfortable.
I have another appointment this week to do moulds again for invisalign and to pay the deposit ($3K - ouch!).
I have been thoroughly researching everything I can on Invisalign, especially other peoples blogs. I'm excited about straightening my teeth but I am also very nervous! But the good thing is I won't have a mouth full of metal!!!
