Teeth extracted!

Today @ 2pm I had my teeth extracted! and its also my birthday today so Happy Birthday to me!!! LOL (very expensive birthday present, $400!).
I had been freaking out about this BIG TIME!!! Scared about the whole procedure, scared they might remove the wrong teeth, scared they might damage my other teeth and just scared of the pain!!!!
My Hubby came with me for support and there were lots of jokes from the dentist about getting my teeth pulled out on my birthday.....
He looked at my xrays and said that my teeth have very long roots which means that it might be difficult to remove my teeth (ARRRRRRGGGHHHH!) and that invisalign might take longer than planned because of the long roots, but he did say that i have very healthy strong teeth!
Anyway, so they numbed me up with several injections and I felt alot of pressure but no pain and the next thing you know the first tooth came out easily! He then said that although I have long roots I have nice flexible bones which means there should be no problems with moving my teeth during the whole invisalign process (FEW!!!!).
The next one was pulled out not long after the first and then I had to have gauze swabs in my gaps to try stop all the bleeding (gross!!!) for about half an hour.
I was too scared to look in the mirror and still haven't checked my teeth out yet. It is now 5pm, still no pain, numbness is wearing off but I'm ok! I survived it!
So glad that part is over and done with.... now I am soooo ready for the aligners now!

Invisalign delayed..... (but professional pics attached!)

Just got an email from my dentist saying that the aligners won't be shipped until 2nd July!!!!??? Thats ages.... and by the time they arrive in NZ its probably going to be mid July.... oh man... I have been waiting sooooo long and now its just more delays! Grrrrrrrrr!
Anyway, he also sent me all the close-up photos of my teeth.... I was going to put them all up on my blog but they certainly are not pretty!!!! So I will think about it and decide later.....
Honestly, close-up..... my teeth look terrible!!!! It's quite embarrassing!
BRING ON THE INVISALIGN I SAY!!!!!!!

Later..... ok, I willl upload a couple of pics so you can get an idea of how bad my teeth are..... BE WARNED!
The top pic shows my how bad my overjet is and the bottom pic shows the gap between my 2 front teeth that I can't wait to close!

Clincheck approved!

Dentist phoned me last night to tell me he has finalised the clincheck (plan 2) and that he will send it to my home email address for me to look at and if I'm happy call him back and go ahead with making the aligners! Well........I'm VERY happy with the clincheck! I'm still gonna be left with gaps at the back but we did discuss bridges/crowns if needed.
Also, I only need 30 aligners! Thats just 13 months of treatment time!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!
So, it takes 2 weeks for the aligners to be made which falls around my birthday w/end, so I'm hoping to get them fitted AFTER my b/day (28th June), so I can make the most of snacking, leisurely drinking etc!!!!
So, at the moment I am very happy and pleased that the plan has finally been approved!

Still waiting......

Its been 7 weeks since I had my moulds done and I am still waiting on my invisalign plan to be finalised. I have seen the dentist twice.... the first time he gave me 2 plans.
1st plan involved a lot of shaving down the teeth (IPR) to make room for my teeth to move, rubber bands, lots of attachments but the end result not perfecting my bite.
2nd plan involved no shaving of the teeth, no rubber bands, a few less attachments, the end result being perfect but longer treatment time & 2 teeth extractions (upper).
He said that he still wanted to work on the plans to perfect them, so 2 weeks later (yesterday) I went in again and he showed me his new plan that he has been working on which is similar to the 2nd plan but instead of the 4th teeth on each side being removed it will be the 5th teeth on each side and a shorter timeframe. BUT the only downside is that he said the gaps where the missing teeth will be will not be able to fully close which means I will have a perfect bite and straight teeth but gaps near the back of my teeth (he said about half a tooth size on each side). He said its up to me what I want to do then.... either expensive crowns or bridges or leave as is if it isn't noticable.
So now he is working on tweeking this plan and will send it in to the invisalign company for approval. So now its more waiting...... I guess that is the downside to invisalign over standard braces, a long waiting time from getting the moulds done to actually getting the aligners.
